Assisting in end-of-service life eco-design

A purpose-built eco-design platform

A platform for producers has been integrated into ecosystem’s internet site. It enables appliances to be improved and better designed for a more environmentally-friendly end-of-service life. It can be freely accessed here.

This platform contains written content and videos for a better understanding of how recycling works. Tools and media are made available to producers to assist them in their eco-design activities (best practice information sheets, LCI data, REEECYC’LAB) and to make it easier access to different documentary resources and information on regulations and standards that are of interest for eco-design.

Development of best practice eco-design sheets

Aimed at professionals in the household and professional WEEE sectors, these information sheets, available for free of charge in French and English, summarise best practices for eco-designing a product, making it more recyclable. These are based on the feedback of ecosystem treatment operators and are aimed at producers (designers, buyers, product managers, etc.). These sheets are organised per type of product, recommendations and major themes. They also contain information on the recycling context in order to better understand the stakes linked to eco-design.

Updating of the REEECYC’LAB software

Aimed at household WEEE producers, new developments were also carried out on REEECYC’LAB by updating the tool’s background data, adding new functionalities such as user evaluation updating management following the updating of background information, giving the possibility of delegating a producer account to a third-party (agency, engineering firm), GRDP compliance, etc.

Providing assistance to producers

Providing assistance to producers in household WEEE, Pro WEEE and lamps is continuing through the following initiatives:

  • the organisation of eco-visits, with producers, of various treatment sites at different stages in the recycling chain (lamp treatment site, SHA, plastics treatment sites, etc.) and/or the organisation of eco-design workshops at producer premises (SME, large groups, etc.);
  • providing continuous assistance to producers on their questions about eco-design and learning how to use our tools:
  • participation in seminars and assistance in the structuring of eco-design initiatives.

These visits especially concern buyers and CSR managers.
